Rice Huller Installation, Commissioning Steps and Acceptance Standards

Installation and Commissioning: Prerequisites for Normal Operation

As precision mechanical equipment, correct installation and commissioning of rice hullers are prerequisites for ensuring normal operation and optimal performance. Many equipment failures and substandard performance are not due to the equipment itself but improper installation and commissioning. This article details the complete process from delivery to commissioning and acceptance, helping users smoothly put equipment into operation.

Pre-Installation Preparation

1. Site Preparation

Space Requirements:

  • Reserve no less than 0.8 meters of operation and maintenance space around equipment
  • Reserve installation space above for elevators and air ducts (height ≥ 5.5m)
  • Consider feed and discharge directions to avoid cross-interference

Foundation Requirements:

  • Concrete foundation strength ≥ C20, thickness ≥ 150mm
  • Foundation flatness error ≤ 3mm/m
  • Pre-embedded foundation bolts or reserved installation holes
  • Foundation load-bearing ≥ 3 times equipment weight

Environmental Requirements:

  • Power supply: Three-phase 380V ± 10%, frequency 50Hz
  • Pneumatic type needs compressed air source (0.6-0.8 MPa)
  • Good ventilation for dust dispersion

2. Unboxing Acceptance

Check Packaging:

  • Whether outer packaging is intact, any damage or deformation
  • Verify shipping list, confirm all accessories present
  • Check for transport damage

Inventory Accessories:

  • Main machine
  • Control cabinet and cables
  • Matching fan (if applicable)
  • Manual, certificate, warranty card
  • Special tools and spare parts

Record Issues:

  • Photograph any damage or shortages
  • Contact manufacturer promptly for handling

Installation Steps

Step 1: Equipment Positioning

  1. Transport to Position

    • Use forklift or crane to move equipment to installation position
    • Protect equipment surface, avoid collisions
    • Large equipment requires multiple people, unified command
  2. Preliminary Leveling

    • Use shims or adjustment bolts for rough leveling
    • Longitudinal and transverse levelness error ≤ 5mm/m

Step 2: Securing Equipment

  1. Install Foundation Bolts

    • Bolt embedment depth ≥ 20 times bolt diameter
    • Bolt protrusion height appropriate (about 50-80mm)
    • Secondary grouting method provides more secure fixing
  2. Tighten Nuts

    • Tighten symmetrically to avoid equipment deformation
    • Tightening torque meets requirements
    • Leave 1-2 thread pitches adjustment margin

Step 3: Connect Pipes and Lines

Feed Pipe Connection:

  • Connect feed hopper with upstream equipment
  • Ensure sealing to avoid material leakage
  • Install inspection openings for cleaning

Discharge Pipe Connection:

  • Connect brown rice outlet and husk outlet
  • Air separation system duct connections airtight
  • Duct routing short and straight, minimize elbows

Electrical Connection:

  • Connect main power according to electrical drawings
  • Grounding connection reliable (ground resistance ≤ 4Ω)
  • Control lines connected correctly

Air Line Connection (pneumatic type):

  • Connect air compressor piping
  • Install filters and pressure reducing valves
  • Check airtightness

Step 4: Lubrication and Inspection

Add Lubricating Oil:

  • Gearbox filled with specified grade lubricating oil
  • Bearing housings filled with appropriate grease
  • Check if all lubrication points are clear

Manual Rotation:

  • Cut power, manually rotate transmission components
  • Check for sticking, abnormal sounds
  • Confirm smooth operation

Commissioning Steps

Step 1: No-Load Test Run

Electrical Inspection:

  • Check if power supply voltage is normal
  • Check functions of all switches and buttons
  • Confirm emergency stop button is effective

Jog Test:

  • Brief startup, observe if motor rotation direction is correct
  • Listen for abnormal sounds
  • Check if current is normal

Continuous No-Load Operation:

  • No-load operation for over 30 minutes
  • Check bearing temperature rise (< 40°C)
  • Check motor temperature rise (< 60°C)
  • Check vibration condition

Step 2: Load Test Run

Small Quantity Test:

  • Prepare 10-20kg paddy
  • Slowly feed, observe hulling effect
  • Check operation of all parts

Parameter Adjustment:

  • Adjust roll gap to recommended value
  • Adjust peripheral speed difference (if adjustable)
  • Adjust airflow to appropriate range
  • Adjust feed flow

Effect Detection:

  • Sample and test hulling rate
  • Observe broken rice condition
  • Check husk separation effect

Step 3: Continuous Operation Test

Continuous Operation 2-4 Hours:

  • Observe equipment stability
  • Monitor current and temperature changes
  • Check for abnormal vibration or noise

Performance Indicator Detection:

  • Hulling rate detection (hourly sampling)
  • Broken rice rate detection
  • Grain content in husk detection
  • Capacity measurement
